A BACHELOR PAD TRANSFORMED...

We recently had the privilege of working with one of our dear friends, James Townsend, to redefine and redesign his bachelor pad.  The goal was to de-clutter and rearrange furniture, pictures, etc., so that the apartment would become a space where James would have more room, as well as be better able to entertain guests.  After rearranging and reassigning new "homes" for many of James' furniture pieces and decorative items, we were able to open up the living area, totally redesign the look of his bedroom and de-clutter his rooms to make his apartment warm and inviting.  And the good news...the only thing we sent him out to purchase was an extension cord!

We hope you enjoy looking at these before and after photos as much as we did creating a new look for James' apartment.  If we can help you redefine a space or two in your home, give us a call...we would love to help make your home a cozier place to live!   Happy Browsing!

THE LIVING/DINING AREA--
The following photos show James' living/dining area before the redesign:

The goal in redesigning this part of the apartment was to de-clutter and redesign the room to better use the space, as well as create an area better suited for relaxing and visiting with friends.  After discovering a cream couch in another room that wasn't being used, we rearranged furniture, moved a bookcase into the  room to accommodate James' large book collection, and rehung artwork.  With a few picture hangers attached to the backs of old cabinet doors that weren't being used, we were able to create some fun wall decorations, highlight the newspaper headlines that James had framed, as well as assign a special place in the room for James' awesome matchbook collection.  Now the living area is warm and inviting, while at the same time functional.  Take a look...

THE DINING AREA:
By removing some of the clutter in the room, bringing James' dining table center stage and displaying a few inherited treasures on the shelves, James' dining area now appears much larger and inviting --

THE MASTER BEDROOM:
The master bedroom was a large room that had great potential.  Pieces of furniture were rearranged, with the main change being the location of the bed.  By moving the bed on an angle, the room opened up, allowing us to bring in a desk to provide a personal study space. Moving the armoire to another wall allowed this fun piece to be highlighted in the room and gave us more space to add a small bookcase and  make room for James' television.  We are especially happy with the transformation...

THE HALLWAY:
James' empty hallway was not being used to its full potential.  After discovering a few great pieces that could be better put to use in this space, we moved a bookcase and a great old inherited piece into the hallway to accommodate more of James' book collection.  The hallway went from an empty, drab area to one that now directs attention to the newly designed master bedroom, while at the same time becoming a functional space...

THE BATHROOM:
James' apartment is part of a great older apartment complex.  We were happy to see that the character and charm had been maintained throughout the rooms.  The bathroom especially displays the charm of a classic architectural design.  With a few decorative touches, the room speaks for itself ...

A BACHELOR PAD WITH A NEW LOOK:
When James first asked us to help him redesign his apartment, he described it as a "hopeless bachelor pad."  Using only what was in his apartment, we were able to bring new life to some of his furniture pieces and inherited treasures.  The view when James enters his apartment has a fresh, new look...one he says he is happy to call home.
