A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE THINGS....

HAPPY NOVEMBER, EVERYONE!!
November is the celebrated month for being thankful, and for us it is no different!  We would like to say thank you to all of our clients who have helped make our first six months in business as THE COZY PERCH so much fun!  We have enjoyed the laughter, the creativity you each have inspired within us, and the joy of seeing each of you excited about the changes made to your beautiful homes.  We hope God continues to bless us with opportunity and with new friendships as we look forward to helping you decorate for the upcoming holiday season.

A LOOK AT SOME OF OUR RECENT DESIGN PROJECTS
One area of our redesign business that has been especially fun has been the redesign of several of our clients' bedrooms.  We have had a great time using the decorative accessories and furnishings within your homes to create fun and relaxing spaces where you can retreat after a long day of school or work.  We thought we'd share several of our most recent designs with you to help inspire you!  Thanks to the Orr and McCrary families of Longview, Texas for allowing us to share pictures of their designed spaces.  We had a great time working with you to create these great new rooms!

BOLD & ECLECTIC...
A day in the life of a student can be pretty stressful and busy.  Knowing the fun side of our client's personality, we set out to create a warm and inviting space where Chaney would be happy to crash after a long, full day at school.  This bedroom redesign was inspired by an eclectic, fun vintage-style.  Using the bold colors of cobalt blue and red as our backdrop, as well as a great collection of vintage-inspired collectables, we set out to create a look that was fun and edgy but at the same time comfortable and warm...a perfect place to unwind with friends after a busy school day.  Here are the results...

Our first part of the redesign involved this fun collection of art and keepsakes.  Using a balance of color, with a splash of bold mixed in, we created an extension of the headboard that tells a story and highlights a few of the original art and photos found throughout the room's design.
We especially love the addition of the lace fan and vintage cloth
at the end of the bed to accent the sparkle of the silver pillows.

Next, we set out to create an area in the room to display photos, jewelry and other vintage-inspired collectables.  Old shutters literally rescued from the burn pile in the backyard were attached to the wall.  Using the slats of the shutters, as well as clips, hooks and the addition of a picture frame accent light, we had a great time creating a place that will constantly unfold as new photos,
memorabilia and jewelry treasures take center stage.

Here is the completed wall...

The next area of the room was especially fun to create!  An amazing peace sign using old 45 records had already been designed by Chaney and was hanging on the wall when we arrived, as seen in the picture below.  She had also rescued an old vintage mirror had from an antique store that was begging for a highlighted place in the room.  Combining these two great pieces with the addition of the vintage rocker and granny square throw, there is now a cozy corner to read and unwind.  The hook rack on the wall displays some favorite scarves, and the stool in front of the vintage mirror is the perfect place to rest Chaney's camera when not in use.

Next we found a space to accent her guitar,
as well as a collage of photos of friends and favorite magazines...

We loved the surprise of seeing the reflection of the artwork across the room in the vintage mirror and dresser mirror.

Final touches were made to the room with the addition of some new curtains from Target, a great black & white canvas print and a shelf to house books and more special collectables...

Bold and eclectic, but so full of fun...
here's the finished product!
Chaney, we are so glad you love it!

CLEAN & CRISP
Another room we had the pleasure of designing was for the teenage daughter of Kevin & DeeAnne McCrary.  Having just moved into their newly built home, Kristen decided that the color scheme for her room would be green, brown and creamy white (with a touch of yellow).  Dee Anne and Kristen set out to gather accessories and furniture pieces they felt would work well in the new room and we set to work designing a look that Kristen could be proud of.  We really enjoyed working with the crisp and clean color scheme.  The colors are very calming and we think they did a great job gathering everything for us to create this great space!

We had a great time designing the cubbies of this great headboard & shelves.
The art piece Dee Anne found in Dallas is the perfect focal point above the bed

We especially love these two metal pieces of art!

This grouping was created on the wall opposite the bed.
It was fun to discover the view of the headboard reflecting in the mirrors.

Incorporating silver trays and mercury glass into the room added a new dimension
to the green, creamy white & yellow color palette

Throughout the room, areas were created to help Kristen stay organized...

a message board wall,
a redesigned bookshelf
and a newly-decorated desk to make homework a bit more enjoyable...

The collection of green & clear bottles makes a fun accent to the green wall

Adding a boldly flowered piece of cloth found at IKEA to the end of the bed completes the look.
Great job, ladies, in searching out the perfect accessories!
We hope you enjoy your new room!

WARM & INVITING...
The last two rooms we want to highlight are a cozy main floor guest room and an elegant master bedroom suite.

One of the greatest gifts of hospitality we can share with our friends and family when they come to visit is a beautifully appointed guest room.

The McCrary's main floor guest room is no exception.
The plate display above the bed draws your attention
to the beauty of the headboard
and reflects the theme in the toile curtain print

Their choice of warm color tones of cream, tan and dark brown, as well as elegant draperies and furnishings, bring this room together perfectly!

Finally, the Orrs wanted a master bedroom suite in their colonial home that combined beauty, elegance and a touch of whimsy -- a perfect retreat and inviting space to slip away from the hustle and bustle of a busy household.  Once again, the choices of color in the room define the space.  Surprises of bright color and the addition of fun, whimsical lampshades are the perfect way to keep the grandness of this bedroom warm and cozy.  The gathering of art pieces that have personal meaning and reflect the colors found in the bedding, plus the careful placement of furnishings and lamps, complete the elegant theme of this room...

We love the whimsy of the wreaths in the windows & the color and shape of the lampshades!

Juli's choice of beautiful window treatments
and the addition of a vintage plate display above the armoire
highlight the view to the outside
Adding comfortable seating in the corners of the room  definitely makes you want to find time to relax and unwind.
The master bathroom continues the theme of bright color and whimsical detail...

We love the little touches in a room like this fun table decorated with a sprig of greenery and vintage collectables
Vintage linens aglow in the cabinet

The final touch?  Two great upholstered chairs and a whimsical ottoman.  The addition of art pieces that echo the peacock colors in the room and the fun sconce lighting from Pottery Barn provide the warmth and comfort to this cozy corner of the room.  To tie the look together in this seating area, layers of decorative trim complimenting the colors in the ottoman were added to the lampshades, giving the plain shades character and charm.
